How This Christian Girl Finally Learned To Curse

I am a 38 year-old Christian female...

who has just recently learned to curse

It's shocking, I know
as I can hardly believe it myself

and wonder...

How did I get here?

and

Why did it take so long?

I, like so many others
who were introduced to Christ as a child

learned to

pray
praise
read His Word

tell others about

His goodness
His plan
His provision

and live a life dedicated to His service

But my 23 years...
(on this side of the cross)

have also taught me

that this Christian walk

almost
always
also

involves a fight!

Whether its...

spiritual
emotional
physical

we have to fight on every side

against

the flesh
the enemy
the world

because we're fighting the good fight of faith

And so as I recently

remembered
read
reconsidered

this passage of Scripture...
___________________________________________________________

12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and  when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter calling to remembrance said unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursed is withered away.

22 And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he said.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

and as I really thought about...

my journey
my life
my experiences

and really thought about Christ...

His journey
His life
His experiences

and about how everything that He did
was for us

the words of Jesus penetrated my heart
and I realized that I was living far too passively

AND...

that not only
did I need to learn to confront that which is

unfruitful
unproductive
unyielding

in my life

I needed to be teaching my children to do so as well!

(because after all, the best way to learn to curse is from your mother, right?)

And so without apology

I curse...

perversion
poverty
pain

disease
division
depression

I curse...

fear
foolishness
failure

and everything else
that tries to exalt itself above God

I curse...

laziness, ineffectiveness, bitterness

and any
and all

confusion attempting to manifest

in my life
in my mind
in me

I curse all...

forces
thoughts
ideologies

that do not align with the Sovereign Will of God
because at the end of days His Will is the only thing that will stand

This Christian girl has finally learned to curse because

He lived
He died
He was buried

and when He rose again with all power
it reversed the curse

allowing for complete

healing
triumph
victory

so that now
without

fear
regret or
remand...

I curse

A Lesson at Lunch... Salt and Water

I ordered my food
and sat down to wait

I was not expecting a lesson, but when I looked...

I saw
I noticed
I remembered

that

We are the salt of the Earth...
He is the Living Water...

and as we lean on Him
(who is larger than life)

even our smallness cannot diminish our purpose...

to preserve
add flavor
promote thirst in others

so that they too may desire to drink from His fountain

John 7:37-39

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

He had a love for words...

the rhythm
the rhyme
the cadence
the chime

It is obvious that words were important to him
And when I was young my parents double teamed me
to instill
a value
a passion
a love
for reading..
and words

My dad let me read to him and said...
"If you can read, you can learn to do anything"

My mom took me to the book store every Friday
to pick out a new book for my collection
and I became...
a reader
a writer
a lover of words
and later
an Early Childhood Educator to pass the love on

So today...
in celebration of Dr. Seuss's Birthday

parents and educators everywhere
are being encouraged to READ!

And to not just read the book...

but to also
Extend the experience...

How To Use Clearance Items This Spring

A few weeks ago I discovered how to use...

Christmas clearance items

for Valentine's Day

Then a few days later when I returned to the store...

I noticed the St. Patrick's and Easter stuff
(realizing that)

they simply keep changing the aisle

from this...

to this...

to this...

But instead of buying the same products simply "repackaged" for marketing purposes,
I headed back to the clearance section and found enough to make something for everyone

Chocolate Turtle Cake

The chocolate heart caramels were on clearance

which immediately made me think of
this rich decadent dessert for the adults

...a spinoff of my Uncle Joe's famous turtle cake!

Elf "Footprint" Card

This candy-filled Christmas stocking
was used to create the imprint for this card

to remind the kiddos to still believe

Candy Treats

These $.09 cent candies in Santa wrappers

(which once removed)

revealed perfect "bars of gold" for St. Patrick's Day

and later

leftover scrapbooking paper made it easy to add
a more timely message for Easter...

"Have Faith in God"
"All Things are Possible"
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

(and they're double-sided so the kids can
have fun mixing up their own messages)

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

w/ rainbow "candy cane" sprinkles
make for the perfect "sweet & salty" snack

and of course...

Green Velvet Cupcakes

from the mix purchased during Christmas clearance
which the kids absolutely loved!

Clearance item review:

1 pack of green velvet cake mix (from last month)
2 boxes of small rainbow candy canes
 1 plastic Christmas stocking
1 box of jelly beans
2 (3 packs of chocolate)
3 bags of chocolate caramels
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Total spent... $2.50
