My daughter
screamed
ran out afraid
refused to sleep
in her own room
so I went in...
saw him crawling up the wall
reached over and
snatched him down
with my bare hand
"It's not that serious, girl"
as she looked closer
trying to recognize me
(I hate spiders too)
which made me smile
because 37 years ago Mom said...
"Baby, one day you will hold in your
hand the very thing that frightens you"
Time to open your hand...
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this. I'll be back to read more over the next 31 days. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Maxine!
DeleteWhat a great post! Your mom sounds like a wise woman :) Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Neta! Yes, my "Mom" (grandmother) was a very wise and spiritually discerning woman of God.
DeleteI hate spiders! Last week one of my daughters saw a centipede in her room for the first time. She had never seen one and thought it was a baby snake. She woke us up at 5 in the morning. Thankfully dear dad scooped it up and let het know it was a centipede. I didn't want to see the thing as I.hate.snakes.too.
ReplyDeleteUh oh! So Regina, how do you feel about the "daily grace" photo to the right? I scooped that little guy up too and released him back outside.
DeleteWay to show your daughter what brave looks like! I would have been looking for a shoe or something.
ReplyDeleteHa!! Yes Vicki, I WOULD have grabbed a shoe too! It's so weird, but I think the reason I was able to snatch the spider barehanded was BECAUSE I was scared. The thought of touching spiders still creeps me out, but once a woman goes into "mama bear" mode all bets are off!
